since i was 16, i have participated in
Relay for Life nearly every year to help raise money for a cure for breast cancer. this year, i decided instead to join the Hitachi Consulting team in the
Susan G. Koman Race for a Cure held in downtown Houston. when i started participating in these races (i say "race" loosely... it's more of a walk for me) i did it to get involved and volunteer in my community. it was later discovered that i had breast tumors in 2001 and again in 2008. although i had to undergo a few invasive surgeries, both cases turned out to be benign and i was lucky enough to have a clean diagnosis afterwards. but the scare of being only 21, with tumors, and not knowing for several weeks if they were benign or malignant, was enough of a wake up call to make me realize that the people who participate in these fundraisers are the heart and soul of cancer survivors... providing the financial support needed to cure this disease. Hitachi Consulting was honored to have one such person on our team to speak to us about her tireless fight against cancer... in Lisa Millenbah-Rosenthal's honor, we walked.
here is Lisa on the left with her husband, son, mother, and sister.
Lisa Millenbah and Kitty Hearny were high funraisers for our team. kitty raised a total of $1,715 and Lisa raised $7,780.
over 35,000 people came out for the race saturday morning.
if you are interested in donating, it isn't too late. please visit the
Hitachi Consulting team's page and show your support for Lisa and other women fighting breast cancer.
